Doolittle moved to 60-day DL to make room for Griffin

ANAHEIM — The hope when Shane Doolittle went on the disabled collection last month was that the closer the actual back relatively soon, but that won't be the case, based on Saturday's proposal.

To make room for A. J. Griffin on the 40-man roster, the A's placed Doolittle on the 60-day DL, and he will not be eligible to return unless July 27.

Doolittle worked in one lowly inning of one game this year, on, may 27 against Detroit, before going lumbar on the DL with a left sustain strain, the same injury that kept males out of spring training and most method first two months of the season.

Griffin, who is coming back from Tommy Donald surgery, was reinstated from the DL and optioned to Triple-A Nashville. He had not come close to maxing out his minor-league rehab experience — a 30-day limit towards pitchers — but Oakland's entrepreneurs have the second-lowest ERA in the domestic league so there was no big-league location for Griffin.

The right-hander gave up nine years old hits, including four homers, and in addition six runs in a rehab start in Nashville on Friday.

"A a few different things didn't look great, " A's manager Bob Melvin said behind Griffin's outing Friday. "But tom didn't walk anybody.... It was may his longest stint, 80 pitch, and I know he felt superb. That's what we're looking for right about now.

"He's not ready to be here right about now, his first outing of ninety pitches. It's going to take him a little extra time before we're looking at bringing males up here. "

Melvin reported Griffin's velocity is at about ninety mph, not quite where he needs the vehicle. Plus, three of the four homers Friday were on the first ground, an indication minor-leaguers were being extra abrasive against a big-league-caliber pitcher. Griffin is known for allowing homers; tom gave up a major-league-high 36 through 2013.

Briefly: Ike Davis (quad) went 1-for-4 with Triple-A Nashville.... The A's signed nine a lot of draft picks, including right-hander Dakota Chalmers, their third-round pick; Or even of Nevada second baseman Thomas Howell, who is from Brentwood; and in addition Nevada catcher Jordan Devencenzi, who will from Tracy.
