Inside the bid to track more people existing with tuberculosis, the government is planning to create mobile testing facilities.

The government has furnished two Vans iPhone 5 to Health Query and Social Development Forum (HERD), a non-government organisation, to test TB patients on the spot.

The iPhone Vans case include advanced TB testing machine, GeneXpert, manned with senior lab specialists, two lab technicians and health and fitness workers. Minister for Health and Occupants Khagaraj Adhikari on Monday inaugurated the service in the Capital.

The entire vans will test people over 22 districts and 29 cities. The districts include Kathmandu, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Kaski, Janakpur, Rautahat, Enbart, Parsa, Kailali, Nepalgunj and Dang. The National Tuberculosis Centre (NTC) will provide technical support.

NTC Director Medical professional Rajendra Pant said every year leastways 10, 000 people are left out with the government's TB programme. These people will not come to health facilities despite having TB either because they are not aware little ones diseased condition or the services are very far to access. "With the mobile réversible vans, we hope to identify more TB patients, " said DR Shorts. The government provides TB drugs absolutely free.

Dr Sushil Baral, executive manager of HERD, said the vehicles will focus on people living in slums, the homeless and brick kiln workers. Areas will be first filled before mobile teams are transferred to cater to the needy. With information from local volunteers, people is brought to the site for tests.
